ISO Fire Ratings
Many people need to be made aware of ISO Fire Ratings. ISO (Insurance Services Office) is a company that creates ratings for fire districts and their surrounding communities. These ratings reflect how well-equipped a fire district is to put out fires. The score is primarily based on the fire district's water supply, but other factors determine the score.
The ISO score is on a scale of 1-10 and indicates how protected your community is by the local fire department. A one is the best possible rating, while a ten means the fire department did not meet ISO's minimum requirements.
If you reside within five miles of a recognized fire station, the protection class is a 3. If beyond five miles of a recognized fire station, the protection class is a 10.
To find a fire station near you, plug your address into Google Maps, and find the closest fire station near your home or business.
For questions and concerns about your home’s ISO Rating, please contact ISO directly at: 1-800-444-4554.
